Ramon Crater
The Ramon Crater is the most interesting landscape in the Negev desert.
It is the largest erosion crater in the world: It spans 40 km , its width is 9 km and its depth
approximately 300 meter. The earliest rocks exposed
here are from the Triassic period , about 250 million years ago. Signs of
pre-history are traceable throughout these include dwellings, graves, ancient water systems and old trade routes. The
Ramon Crater is an nature reserve with a wealth of interesting
geological and historical sites.
